Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice (1969)

Overview

After returning to Los Angeles from a group therapy session, documentary filmmaker Bob Sanders and his wife, Carol, find themselves becoming vigilante couples counselors, offering unsolicited advice to their best friends, Ted and Alice Henderson. Not wanting to be rude, the Hendersons play along, but some latent sexual tension among the four soon comes bubbling to the surface, and long-buried desires don't stay buried for long.

Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Leans Traditional

Primary

The film explores the challenges to traditional marital norms and attempts at sexual liberation in the late 1960s, satirizing both the perceived repression of the past and the awkward, often superficial, outcomes of the new freedoms. Its nuanced critique of both the problem and the proposed solution positions it as neutral social commentary.

The movie primarily features a white, heterosexual main cast, consistent with its 1969 setting and the social circles depicted. Its narrative explores evolving marital and sexual dynamics within this demographic, without explicitly critiquing traditional identities or centering on broader diversity, equity, and inclusion themes.

Secondary

Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice explores sexual liberation and marital experimentation among two heterosexual couples. The film does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes, with its narrative remaining centered on heterosexual relationships and their evolving dynamics.

The film "Bob & Carol & Ted & Alice" does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes. Its narrative focuses on two heterosexual couples exploring marital and sexual liberation in the late 1960s, without engaging with transgender identity.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

This film is an original story with characters created specifically for it. There is no prior source material, historical record, or previous installment from which characters could have been gender-swapped.

This film is an original screenplay, not an adaptation of pre-existing material with established character races, nor does it feature historical figures. Therefore, no character's race could have been changed from a prior canonical or historical depiction.
