Rampage (2018)

Overview

Primatologist Davis Okoye shares an unshakable bond with George, the extraordinarily intelligent, silverback gorilla who has been in his care since birth. But a rogue genetic experiment gone awry mutates this gentle ape into a raging creature of enormous size. To make matters worse, it’s soon discovered there are other similarly altered animals. As these newly created alpha predators tear across North America, destroying everything in their path, Okoye teams with a discredited genetic engineer to secure an antidote, fighting his way through an ever-changing battlefield, not only to halt a global catastrophe but to save the fearsome creature that was once his friend.

Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Center

Primary

The film's central conflict, driven by corporate greed and unethical science, primarily serves as a catalyst for an action-disaster narrative, with the solution resting on individual heroism rather than promoting specific political ideologies or systemic critiques.

The movie features visible diversity in its lead and supporting heroic roles, with prominent actors of color. However, the narrative does not explicitly critique or challenge traditional identities, focusing instead on a straightforward action plot with corporate villains.

Secondary

Rampage is an action-adventure film centered on a primatologist and giant mutated animals. The movie does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters, themes, or storylines, resulting in no portrayal to evaluate within the scope of this framework.

The film "Rampage" does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes. Its narrative focuses on a primatologist and a genetic engineer battling giant mutated animals, with no elements related to transgender identity or experiences.

The film features Dr. Kate Caldwell as a prominent female character, but her role does not involve direct physical combat victories against male opponents. No other female characters engage in significant close-quarters physical fights.

The film adapts the Rampage video game series. The three main monster characters (George, Ralph, Lizzie) retain their established genders from the source material. All human characters are original to the film and do not have canonical gendered predecessors.

The film "Rampage" is based on a video game series primarily featuring giant monsters. Its human characters are original creations for the film and do not have pre-established racial identities from the source material. Therefore, no race swaps occurred.
