Time Bandits poster

Overview

Young history buff Kevin can scarcely believe it when six dwarfs emerge from his closet one night. Former employees of the Supreme Being, they've purloined a map charting all of the holes in the fabric of time and are using it to steal treasures from different historical eras. Taking Kevin with them, they variously drop in on Napoleon, Robin Hood and King Agamemnon before the Supreme Being catches up with them.

Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Leans Traditional

Primary

The film's central themes are primarily apolitical, exploring fantasy, imagination, and the struggle between good and evil within a cosmic framework, rather than promoting a specific political ideology or solution.

The movie features a cast that is primarily traditional, with no explicit race or gender swaps of roles. Its narrative does not contain critical portrayals of traditional identities or center on explicit DEI themes.

Secondary

The film satirizes the concept of an Abrahamic God through 'The Supreme Being,' who is portrayed as a detached, bureaucratic, and ultimately indifferent creator. This portrayal, culminating in a bleak and cynical ending, critiques the idea of a benevolent divine order.

The film "Time Bandits" does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes. The narrative focuses on a young boy's adventures with a group of time-traveling dwarves, with no elements related to queer identity or experiences present in the story.

The film "Time Bandits" does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes. Its narrative focuses on time travel, fantasy adventure, and the battle between good and evil, without engaging with gender identity issues.

The film does not feature any female characters engaging in direct physical combat against one or more male opponents and achieving victory. Female characters are either in non-combat roles or are not depicted in such victorious physical confrontations.

Time Bandits is an original screenplay, not an adaptation or reboot of pre-existing characters with established genders. All characters were created for this film or are historical figures portrayed consistent with their documented gender, thus no gender swaps occurred.

Time Bandits is an original film with characters created specifically for its screenplay. There are no pre-existing canonical or historically established characters from prior source material whose race could have been altered.
