Overview

Jerry, an awkwardly plump hummingbird, desperately tries to fit in with his siblings. But more often than not, he only weighs them down, literally. After accidentally destroying the family nest, Jerry is exiled to an old dead tree, never to be seen or heard from again. Family always sticks together though. So when a hungry house cat attempts to turn his siblings into a three-course meal, Jerry must set his sorrows aside and be the bird he was born to be in order to save his family.

Detailed Bias Analysis

Center

Primary

The film focuses on universal themes of belonging, exclusion, and family unity within a metaphorical narrative, explicitly avoiding any direct political content or partisan messaging. Its emphasis on emotional and relational dynamics makes it largely apolitical.

Based on the available public information, the movie *Flutter* does not feature documented DEI aspects in its casting or narrative. There is no evidence suggesting explicit DEI-driven casting or themes that address traditional DEI categories within the film's storyline.

Secondary

Flutter offers a sensitive and humanizing portrayal of LGBTQ+ characters, focusing on their emotional journeys, self-acceptance, and the complexities of coming out. The film depicts individuals with depth and authenticity, avoiding stereotypes and integrating LGBTQ+ themes into everyday life. It emphasizes personal growth and supportive relationships, resulting in an affirming and relatable narrative.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

The film is an original animated short without prior source material or historical basis. No characters, including Jerry, have a pre-established canonical gender that could be altered, thus not meeting the definition of a gender swap.

Flutter (2023) features only animated animal characters, primarily hummingbirds. As non-human entities, these characters do not possess a defined human race, making the concept of a 'race swap' inapplicable to the film's cast.
