Detailed Bias Analysis

Leans Progressive

Primary

The film's central narrative is a powerful allegory for the struggle against oppression, dehumanization, and attempted genocide by a militaristic, authoritarian regime, championing empathy and the right to existence for a marginalized group, which aligns with progressive values.

The film features a traditional human cast without explicit DEI-driven recasting. However, its narrative strongly critiques a white male antagonist who embodies destructive human traits, presenting an allegorical commentary on oppression and power dynamics.

Secondary

The film portrays Colonel McCullough, the primary antagonist, as a figure driven by extreme religious zealotry. His rhetoric of divine judgment and purity, coupled with Christian iconography, is used to justify genocide against both apes and infected humans, depicting this form of fanaticism as a destructive and villainous force.

War for the Planet of the Apes does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes. The story is centered on the struggle for survival and leadership between apes and humans, with no elements related to queer identity.

The film "War for the Planet of the Apes" focuses on the conflict between intelligent apes and human soldiers, exploring themes of survival and empathy. It does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes, resulting in no portrayal to evaluate within this framework.

The film does not feature any female characters engaging in direct physical combat against male opponents. Female characters present, such as Nova and Lake, do not participate in combat roles.

All major ape characters maintain their established genders. New human characters are introduced without gender alterations from prior canon. The character Nova, while sharing a name with an original character, is a new character for this reboot continuity and is female, as was the original.

The film primarily features ape characters, for whom human racial categories do not apply. Its human characters are either original to this installment or, in the case of Nova, maintain the same racial portrayal as any potential legacy counterpart, thus no race swap occurs.
