Primary

The film's central conflict, depicting the destruction of nature and suffering of animals by humans, strongly aligns with progressive values of environmentalism and animal welfare. Its narrative fosters empathy for the natural world and implicitly advocates for its protection, positioning it as left-leaning.

This animated film from 1948 features animal characters, making modern DEI casting considerations for human roles inapplicable. The narrative focuses on themes of nature and growth, portraying traditional male roles positively without critiquing traditional identities or incorporating explicit DEI themes.

Secondary

The film 'Bambi' does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes. Its narrative centers on the life and growth of a deer in the forest, focusing on themes of nature, family, and survival, without incorporating any queer representation.

Bambi, 1948, does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes. The film's narrative centers on the natural world and the life experiences of its animal protagonists, such as Bambi's journey from fawn to adult stag, without incorporating elements related to human gender identity or expression. Consequently, there is no portrayal to evaluate against the rubric.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

The 1942 animated film "Bambi" (often misremembered as 1948) faithfully adapts the genders of its main characters from Felix Salten's original novel. No established characters were portrayed with a different gender in the film.

The characters in Bambi (1948) are anthropomorphic animals. The definition of a "race swap" applies to human characters and their established racial identities, which is not applicable to animal characters.
