A Dangerous Adventure (1922)

Overview

Grace Darmond, who had made quite a splash in the 1921 (and still extant) serial The Hope Diamond Mystery, returned to the Saturday matinees as Marjorie Stanton, the treasure-hunting damsel-in-distress of A Dangerous Adventure, produced in 15 chapters and directed by two of the Warner Brothers, Sam and Jack L. Warner. Marjorie and her sister Edith (Derelys Perdue) accompany their uncle (Jack Richardson) on a treasure hunt to Darkest Africa, where the latter fiendishly attempts to sell Marjorie to Ubanga (Rex de Roselli), the local High Priest. Happily, also along for the ride is handsome MacDonald Hayden (Philo McCullough), a wild game hunter who rescues both girls from several fates worse than death.

Primary

The film's title, "A Dangerous Adventure," suggests a focus on classic adventure tropes and challenges. Without specific plot details, the core subject matter and likely narrative solutions are inherently apolitical, leading to a neutral rating.

Reflecting its historical context and directors, the film primarily features traditional casting without intentional race or gender swaps. Its narrative frames traditional identities neutrally or positively, without explicit DEI critiques.

Secondary

A Dangerous Adventure (1937) is a crime drama that does not include any discernible LGBTQ+ characters or themes. The film's plot focuses on a reporter investigating a murder and a missing heiress, without engaging with queer identities or experiences.

A Dangerous Adventure (1922) is a silent adventure serial. Based on available plot summaries and character information, the film does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes in its narrative.

The film, a 1937 crime drama, primarily features a female character as an heiress in peril. While she is involved in dangerous situations, there are no scenes depicting her or any other female character engaging in or winning direct physical combat against one or more male opponents using skill, strength, or martial arts.

This 1922 film is a silent serial. Research indicates it is an original story for the screen, or its source material does not feature characters with widely established canonical genders prior to this production. Therefore, no character's gender could have been swapped from a pre-existing baseline.

As an original film from 1922, "A Dangerous Adventure" does not adapt pre-existing characters with established racial identities from source material, previous installments, or historical records. Therefore, no race swaps occurred.
