Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Leans Progressive

Primary

The film leans right by emphasizing individual duty, resilience, and heroic sacrifice as the solution to a global catastrophe, reinforced by the role of faith in preserving hope and the desire to restore traditional human civilization.

The film 'I Am Legend' demonstrates significant diversity through the casting of a Black actor in a role traditionally portrayed as white. However, its narrative primarily focuses on a post-apocalyptic survival theme and does not explicitly critique or negatively frame traditional identities.

Secondary

Robert Neville, the protagonist, was canonically white in the original novel and previous film adaptations. In the 2007 film, he is portrayed by a Black actor, Will Smith, which constitutes a race swap.

The film portrays Christianity, primarily through Anna, as a vital source of hope, resilience, and moral guidance in a desolate world. Her faith in a 'paradise' is ultimately validated by the discovery of the survivor colony, suggesting that belief can lead to salvation and a future.

The film "I Am Legend" does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes. The narrative focuses solely on the survival of its heterosexual protagonist, Robert Neville, in a post-apocalyptic world, with no elements pertaining to queer identity or experiences.

The film "I Am Legend" does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes within its narrative. The story focuses on a post-apocalyptic world, survival, and a search for a cure, without engaging with transgender identity or experiences.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

The film adapts the novel without altering the gender of any established human characters. While a dog companion is present in the source, the specific character of Sam (Samantha) in the film is an original creation, not a gender-swapped version of a previously established character.
