Center

Primary

The film's core conflict centers on a grieving individual's psychological journey and the exploration of extreme communal dynamics, rather than explicitly promoting or critiquing a specific political ideology. It critiques the absence of support in modern relationships and the dangers of radical collectivism without endorsing a political alternative.

The movie primarily features traditional casting with a predominantly white ensemble. However, it critically frames its main male characters, portraying them negatively through their self-centered actions and emotional detachment within the narrative.

Secondary

Midsommar primarily explores themes of grief, codependency, and cult dynamics through its central heterosexual protagonists. The narrative does not include any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or explicit queer themes, resulting in no depiction of LGBTQ+ identity.

Midsommar does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes. The narrative focuses on folk horror elements, cult rituals, and interpersonal relationships, without addressing gender identity or transition in any capacity.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

Midsommar is an original film with characters created specifically for its narrative. It is not an adaptation, reboot, or biopic, and therefore does not feature any characters established in prior canon or history whose gender could have been swapped.

Midsommar is an original film with characters created specifically for its narrative. There is no prior source material, historical record, or previous adaptation establishing the race of any character to be altered.
