Open Season (2023)

Open Season poster

Open Season (2023)

Overview

Flanked by their two children, Simon and Adélaïde decide, like many Parisians today, to leave their two-room apartment for a quieter and more comfortable life in the country. They are seduced by a house in the middle of nature: space, a vegetable garden, a wood adjoining their garden and above all villagers who welcome them with open arms. A dream come true! But the young couple was soon to be disillusioned: the wood was actually a hunting ground for big game! Although the hunters are friendly, they are not willing to give up their territory, making Simon and Adélaïde's dream of the countryside a living hell. But true to their reputation, our Parisians are not going to let them do it.

Center

Primary

The film explores the politically charged urban-rural divide and hunting culture with humor and empathy for both sides, advocating for cultural understanding and integration rather than promoting a specific political agenda.

The movie incorporates some ethnic diversity in its casting, but its central narrative focuses on cultural adaptation and community integration, exploring the clash between urban and rural lifestyles. It does not explicitly foreground broader DEI issues such such as racial justice or gender equity, nor does it critically portray traditional identities.

Secondary

The 2023 film *Open Season* (Chasse gardée) does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes within its narrative. The story centers on culture clash and community tensions in a rural setting, without addressing LGBTQ+ representation or related social dynamics. Therefore, the film has no net impact on the portrayal of the LGBTQ+ community.

Open Season (2023) does not feature transsexual characters or themes. The storyline centers on rural life, hunting culture, and interpersonal conflicts, with no elements related to gender identity or the trans community present in its narrative or character portrayals.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

Open Season (2023) is an original film with an original screenplay and characters. There is no pre-existing source material, prior installments, or historical record for its characters, meaning no established gender could have been swapped.

Open Season (2023) is an original film, not an adaptation or reboot. Its characters are new creations, and their casting aligns with their contemporary French backgrounds and realistic demographics. No character was previously established as a different race in prior canon or history.
