Overview

A Chinese thriller set in Thailand, this 2019 remake of the Indian hit Drishyam follows a devoted father who uses his encyclopedic knowledge of crime films to cover up an accidental death that threatened his family. The story is built around fierce parental love, a committed marriage, and the lengths ordinary people will go to protect their children. Those elements push firmly Traditional. Pulling slightly in the other direction, the film also frames law enforcement as corrupt and power as something to be gamed rather than trusted, which adds a skeptical edge toward authority. The two forces leave the label at Mixed, a rare case where family devotion and institutional distrust share equal billing.
