Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Progressive

Primary

The film's primary focus is on a high-stakes action narrative involving a father rescuing his son from criminals and corrupt police, rather than exploring or promoting specific political ideologies related to crime, justice, or government.

The movie demonstrates significant diversity through the explicit recasting of a traditionally white lead role with a Black actor. However, the narrative itself functions as a straightforward action thriller, focusing on crime and family, and does not explicitly center on or critique traditional identities or broader DEI themes.

Secondary

The 2017 film "Sleepless" is a remake of the 2011 French film "Nuit Blanche." The character of the internal affairs investigator, originally male (Jimenez) in the source material, is portrayed as female (Jennifer Bryant) in this adaptation, constituting a gender swap.

The lead character, Vincent Downs, was originally portrayed by a white actor in the 2011 French film 'Nuit Blanche,' which 'Sleepless' (2017) is a remake of. In the 2017 adaptation, the character is played by a Black actor, Jamie Foxx, constituting a race swap.

The film "Sleepless" does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes. The narrative is an action thriller centered on an undercover police officer's efforts to rescue his kidnapped son, with no elements related to queer identity or experiences present in the storyline.

The film "Sleepless" does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes. The narrative focuses on an undercover police officer's efforts to rescue his son from criminals, with no elements related to transgender identity or experiences present in the plot.

The film features Internal Affairs detective Jennifer Bryant as the primary female character in an action role. While she is involved in pursuits and confrontations, there are no instances where she or any other female character defeats one or more male opponents in close-quarters physical combat without relying on firearms.
