Someday or One Day (2022)

Overview

In 2009, 28-year-old Li Zi Wei and 17-year-old Huang Yu Xuan met each other. These are two innocent and unaffected lives that could each feel like marks from their past and present lives. However, they could not find sufficient proof to fill up the emptiness at the bottom of their hearts. An accident let them fall into another Mobius loop that had already happened countless times. Only then did they realize that in different times and spaces, they once had a deep, true love that had passed through countless timelines to search for each other with no regrets. But in that story, their deepest love came at the highest price. If they could start again, would they choose to meet by chance in ordinary life or be scarred by the memories etched in their heart and bones? Or perhaps they can choose to hurt and love all over again, betting on a different ending?

Detailed Bias Analysis

Primary

The film is rated Left-Leaning due to its empathetic and non-judgmental portrayal of LGBTQ+ identity and the challenges faced by gay individuals, woven into a broader narrative of self-discovery and breaking cycles of tragedy through understanding and collective effort.

The movie, a Taiwanese production, features a cast that reflects its cultural origin, without engaging in explicit race or gender swaps of traditionally white roles. While its narrative does not negatively portray traditional identities, it significantly and empathetically integrates a gay character's storyline, exploring themes of identity and love within the broader romantic fantasy plot.

Secondary

The film empathetically portrays the tragic arc of a gay character, Wang Quan Sheng, whose suffering from unrequited love and bullying is a foundational element driving the plot. While the primary romance is heterosexual, the narrative frames prejudice as the cause of his misery, implicitly affirming the worth of LGBTQ+ lives by making the prevention of such suffering a central motivation.

The film 'Someday or One Day' (2022) does not feature identifiable transsexual characters or themes. While body-swapping is a key plot element, it serves as a mechanism for time travel and romance, rather than an exploration of gender identity or transition.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

The 2022 film "Someday or One Day" is a cinematic continuation of the 2019 Taiwanese drama series. It features the same core characters and actors, maintaining their established genders from the original series. No characters canonically established as one gender have been portrayed as a different gender in this adaptation.

The film "Someday or One Day" (2022) is a cinematic adaptation of a Taiwanese television series. The main characters, originally established as East Asian in the source material, are portrayed by the same East Asian actors in the film, with no changes to their racial depiction.
