The film explores universal themes of survival, competition, and the search for meaning in a brutal post-apocalyptic world, focusing on individual and team resilience rather than promoting or critiquing specific political ideologies.

The movie presents visible diversity within its ensemble cast, featuring non-white actors in prominent roles, which enriches the film's post-apocalyptic world. However, the narrative primarily focuses on themes of survival and sport, without explicitly critiquing traditional identities or centering on strong DEI themes.
