Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Leans Progressive

Primary

The film's dominant themes of environmentalism and anti-war align with progressive values, critiquing humanity's destructive impact on nature and advocating for a more harmonious coexistence, despite its nuanced portrayal of human struggles.

Princess Mononoke, a Japanese animated film, presents a diverse array of characters within its specific cultural context, without engaging in explicit race or gender swaps of traditionally white roles. The narrative explores complex themes of humanity's relationship with nature and the costs of progress, rather than explicitly critiquing traditional identities such as white or male.

Secondary

The film features San, a human raised by wolves, who repeatedly engages in and wins close-quarters physical fights against multiple male samurai and guards using her knives and agility.

Princess Mononoke does not feature any identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes. The story primarily explores environmentalism, war, and the complex relationship between humanity and nature, without incorporating queer identities or experiences into its narrative.

Princess Mononoke does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes. The film's narrative focuses on environmentalism, the conflict between humanity and nature, and the journey of its protagonists, without exploring aspects of gender identity or transsexual experiences.

Princess Mononoke is an original story created for the 1997 film. Its characters were not established in prior source material, history, or previous installments, thus precluding any gender swaps.

Princess Mononoke is an original animated film, not an adaptation of pre-existing material or a historical biopic. All characters were created for this specific film, meaning there is no prior canon or historical record from which a character's race could have been established and subsequently changed.
