Peak Practice (1993)

Overview

Peak Practice is a British drama series about a GP surgery in Cardale — a small fictional town in the Derbyshire Peak District — and the doctors who worked there. It ran on ITV from 10 May 1993 to 30 January 2002 and was one of their most successful series at the time. It originally starred Kevin Whately as Dr Jack Kerruish, Amanda Burton as Dr Beth Glover and Simon Shepherd as Dr Will Preston, though the roster of doctors would change many times over the course of the series. Cardale was based on the Staffordshire village of Longnor for the final series, but was previously based in the Derbyshire village of Crich, although certain scenes were filmed at other nearby Derbyshire towns and villages, most notably Matlock, Belper and Ashover.

Detailed Bias Analysis

Leans Traditional

Primary

Peak Practice is rated as neutral/centrist because its central focus is on the apolitical human drama of medical practice and personal relationships in a rural setting, rather than promoting or critiquing specific political ideologies related to healthcare or society.

Based on the typical characteristics of a mainstream British medical drama from its era, the series likely featured traditional casting and a narrative that did not explicitly critique traditional identities or center strong DEI themes.

Secondary

Based on available information, 'Peak Practice' does not appear to feature identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes. Therefore, an evaluation of its portrayal is not applicable.

The television series 'Peak Practice' does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes within its narrative. Consequently, there is no portrayal to evaluate regarding its impact on transgender identity or experiences.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

Peak Practice is an original British medical drama series that ran from 1993 to 2002. As an original production, it does not adapt pre-existing characters from other source materials or historical records, nor is it a reboot of an earlier series with established legacy characters. Therefore, no characters were gender-swapped from prior canonical or historical portrayals.

Peak Practice is an original television series, not an adaptation of existing material or a historical biopic. All characters were created for the show, meaning there is no prior canonical or historical race to be altered.
