Analyzing...
Center

Primary

Political: Leans Left
Confidence: High

The film leans left due to its strong environmentalist message, portraying human exploitation of nature as the central conflict and championing a solution of living in harmony with the natural world and embracing chosen family over destructive societal norms.

Diversity: Low
Confidence: Medium

The movie 'Tarzan' features traditional casting with no explicit race or gender swaps of its main characters. The narrative maintains a neutral to positive framing of traditional identities, with the primary conflict driven by themes of greed and environmental exploitation rather than a critique of identity.

Secondary

Gender Swap: Yes
Confidence: High

The character Terk, a prominent ape companion to Tarzan in the 1999 film, is portrayed as female. In Edgar Rice Burroughs' original novels, the corresponding character, Terkoz, is a male ape. This constitutes a gender swap for a significant character.

LGBTQ: N/A
Confidence: High

The animated film 'Tarzan' does not include any explicit or implicitly identifiable LGBTQ+ characters or themes. The narrative focuses on Tarzan's journey of self-discovery, his relationship with his ape family, and his romance with Jane, without any elements pertaining to queer identity or experiences. Therefore, the net impact on LGBTQ+ portrayal is N/A.

Trans: N/A
Confidence: High

The animated film "Tarzan" does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or themes within its narrative. The story focuses on Tarzan's journey of self-discovery and his place between the human and gorilla worlds, without engaging with transgender identity or related issues.

Female Combat: No
Confidence: High

The film features female characters such as Kala, Jane Porter, and Terk. None of these characters are depicted engaging in or winning close-quarters physical combat against one or more male opponents. Their roles do not involve such combat scenarios.

Race Swap: No
Confidence: High

The animated film Tarzan (1999) portrays its main human characters, including Tarzan, Jane Porter, and Professor Porter, consistent with their established racial depictions in the original source material and prior adaptations. No characters canonically established as one race are depicted as a different race.
