The Wolf's Call (2019)

The Wolf's Call (2019)

Overview

Shown from the perspective of a young submariner with unusually sensitive hearing and uncannily precise sound recognition. The fate of many often depends on his ability, and one time, whilst highly stressed, he makes a incorrect call which put his entire crew in mortal danger. Trying to regain the confidence of his comrades, he conducts an unauthorised investigation of an apparent plot which, it turns out, risks escalating into a nuclear apocalypse. Suddenly working under pressure with the fleet admiral, they must do whatever is necessary, even the unthinkable, to prevent a nuclear war, since a confirmed nuclear strike order cannot be countermanded.

Primary

The film explores the apolitical themes of national security, military duty, and crisis management during a nuclear standoff. It balances the inherent dangers of nuclear warfare with a celebration of individual competence and sacrifice within the military, resulting in a neutral political stance.

The movie features a visibly diverse cast in key roles, though these do not appear to be explicit race or gender swaps of traditionally white characters. The narrative focuses on a military thriller without critiquing traditional identities or centering explicit DEI themes.

Secondary

The film 'The Wolf's Call' does not include any identifiable transsexual characters or themes. Consequently, there is no specific portrayal to evaluate regarding its impact on transgender representation.

The film is a submarine thriller focused on a predominantly male crew. No female characters are depicted in combat roles or engaging in direct physical confrontations. Therefore, no instances of female characters defeating male opponents in close-quarters combat are present.

The Wolf's Call is an original film with characters created specifically for its narrative. There are no pre-existing canonical or historical characters whose gender could have been altered.

The Wolf's Call is an original film with no pre-existing source material or historical figures. All characters were created for this specific production, meaning there are no prior canonical or historically established racial depictions to be altered.
