Better Call Saul (2015)

Overview

Six years before Saul Goodman meets Walter White. We meet him when the man who will become Saul Goodman is known as Jimmy McGill, a small-time lawyer searching for his destiny, and, more immediately, hustling to make ends meet. Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Center

Primary

The series primarily explores individual moral decay, ambition, and the complexities of the legal system, presenting a nuanced view of human nature and the consequences of choices without explicitly promoting a specific political ideology or offering a partisan solution to its central conflicts.

The series features visible diversity within its cast, with several prominent roles filled by minority actors. However, these characters are integral to the established narrative and do not represent explicit race or gender swaps of traditionally white roles. The narrative itself focuses on individual character development and moral ambiguities, without explicitly critiquing traditional identities based on race or gender.

Secondary

Better Call Saul includes a subtle, implied portrayal of an LGBTQ+ character through Gus Fring's brief, intimate interaction with a waiter. This moment adds complexity and depth to his character, suggesting a personal life he sacrifices for his criminal empire. The depiction is incidental, neither central to the narrative nor making a strong positive or negative statement about LGBTQ+ identity.

Better Call Saul, a prequel to Breaking Bad, centers on the transformation of Jimmy McGill into Saul Goodman within the legal and criminal underworld. The show does not include any identifiable transsexual characters or storylines, nor does it address transsexual themes. Consequently, there is no portrayal to evaluate under the given framework.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

Better Call Saul is a prequel/spin-off to Breaking Bad. All returning characters from Breaking Bad maintain their established genders. New characters introduced in Better Call Saul do not have prior canonical genders to be swapped from.

As a prequel and spin-off, "Better Call Saul" introduces new characters and features returning characters from "Breaking Bad." All returning characters maintain their established race, and new characters do not have prior canonical racial depictions to be swapped from.
