Detailed Bias Analysis

Analyzing...
Leans Progressive

Primary

The series' central conflict is driven by a critique of unchecked corporate power and government failure, as a wealthy elite actively facilitates a global catastrophe. The narrative champions collective action among a diverse group as the solution to systemic corruption and an existential threat, aligning with left-leaning themes.

The movie features a visibly diverse cast, reflecting a broad range of ethnicities in its character portrayals. The narrative maintains a neutral stance on traditional identities, focusing on its core horror and action themes without explicit DEI critiques.

Secondary

The show features Dutch Velders, a bisexual main character whose sexual orientation is depicted factually and respectfully. Her identity is integrated naturally into her character and relationships, without being a central theme or source of conflict. The portrayal neither uplifts nor denigrates LGBTQ+ identity, maintaining a neutral stance.

The character Dutch, a hacker who was male in the original novel series, is portrayed as a female character named Dutch Velders in the television adaptation.

The series portrays Judaism through Abraham Setrakian, a Holocaust survivor whose Jewish heritage and historical understanding are central to his righteous fight against the strigoi. The narrative affirms his perspective as crucial to understanding and combating the ancient evil.

The television series 'The Strain' does not feature any identifiable transsexual characters or explore related themes. Its narrative is entirely focused on a global vampiric pandemic and the efforts to combat it, rendering the category of transsexual portrayal inapplicable.

The movie does not contain any action or adventure elements.

A review of the main and significant supporting characters in "The Strain" against their source material descriptions reveals no instances where a character canonically established as one race was portrayed as a different race in the show.
